This Ammolite pendant was hand fabricated in 14KY & 18KY. It measures 24.80mm wide x 36.64mm long.
Ammolite gemstones are found in one place only; Canada, just east of the Rocky Mountains. It was formed from the fossilized shells of Ammonites, which in turn are composed primarily of aragonite, the same material contained in nacre (outer layer of pearls), with a microstructure inherited from the shell. It is a brilliant gemstone that is usually colored red and green and also exhibits yellow tint under ultraviolet rays. The name Ammolite is from the name of the ancient Egyptian god Ammon, who was represented by a head of a ram with twisted horns. The shells of prehistoric Ammonites also looked very similar to this ram’s head. One of a Kind.
